Steep Creek

Spent Saturday night at Beeks and had the valley to ourselves. Skinned from the highway and travel was pretty straightforward, though there is some sporty skinning BTL. Alders are thick but passable. Skied back down the road to 1250m without damage but walked the last km. Skiing was really good above 1700m. 100cm at TL. 20cm of unconsolidated powder on top of the crust that skied really well. Some wind affect higher up towards ridgeline and above, but no signs of instability aside from some dry loose sluffing in steep terrain. Noticed widespread surface hoar formation around TL from Saturday night, crystals up to 3cm. Explored a variety of aspects above the hut, and also skied a nice run from the summit of Darkside down The Glove. Alpine is on!
