We had a mixed bag of weather while touring up to Keith's hut. In the morning there was strong solar input and warming temperatures to above 0, and we noticed some pinwheeling on steep solar aspects. At around noon, the clouds / flurries arrived with moderate to strong sustained winds from the SW, with what looked like extreme gusts at ridgetops and in the alpine. There was significant snow transport observed at treeline and in the alpine throughout the day. We started touring along the ridge above Keith's hut towards motel 66 and experienced cracking from our skis and felt hollow / drum like snow on the lee side of the ridge. We suspected windslabs were rapidly developing in lee alpine and treeline terrain features so we adjusted our plans and stuck to protected glade skiing.
