Shames AST1 Day 2 Obs

Moderate to strong north winds closed the ski hill. After skinning up to the knowls found electric conditions with our testing of small lee slopes. Simultaneous whumphs, shooting cracks ending with small remote triggered avalanches. Windward slopes were scoured down to Jan 16 crust with lee slopes building stiff slabs. Mary’s Run and 3rd Knowl ramp were scoured clean. Skied out the hill finding good snow on previously groomed slopes. Fun day out in some wild weather with a good group of students.
