Skied into Joe L’Orsa cabin for a night. Dug a quick put on the way out near the last bridge. Snow depth was 135cm, with the top 25 being recent. 55cm down (at 80cm mark on the probe) lies a crust that delineates a density change in the snow pack. This crust failed with 4 hard hits during a compression test. 90 cm down (45cm from the ground) lies a low density (fist) facet layer. After the 55cm crust failed, this layer failed after 2 hard hits. Note that this test was done during the start of the most recent snowfall, which added an additional 25-35 cm of wet, heavy snow on top of this profile.
