Quick report

Red Flags
Recent Avalanches, Wind Loading, Cracking, Collapsing, Rapid Warming, Poor Snowpack Structure
Red Flags Comment

I can’t remember a time that I’ve seen more red flags in one ride. We observed widespread cracking and collapsing. Avalanches were easily triggered on any test slope steeper than 30 degrees.

Snowpack

Instability Comment

Everything we observed today was failing on the buried Jan/Feb NSF below a 4F slab.

To start the day snow on the north half of the compass was quite good. As temps climbed even the shaded areas started to show signs of heating. The south half of the compass was a mixed bag of solid and breakable crusts.
