Quick report
About 6” of cold, dry snow at 4000ft on top of rain-soaked snow. The new snow was mostly uncohesive in the morning, but less so as temps increased. It bonded poorly to the underlying snow and there was widespread dry loose (steep slopes and below cliffs, observed on N and E aspects), and later wet loose (mainly observed on E aspects), both natural and skiier triggered. Most were small and inconsequential aside from a recent D2 wet loose that covered some of the morning’s tracks. Widespread evidence of S winds, with some very small slabs (<2”) on leeward side near ridgeline. Further from ridgeline, wind drifted snow was unconsolidated and unreactive.

Large D2 wet loose avalanche below the exit of Herman’s east gully. Uncertain about the trigger. Occurred sometime mid morning as it covered recent tracks. Debris was mostly wet snow, but it could have started as a dry loose and picked up some of the wetter snow beneath.
