A few inches of new snow has significantly improved riding conditions in the Donner summit area. Storm totals ranged from 3 in to 7 in in wind drifted areas. Air temps were increasing as I was touring and the sun broke through the morning cloud layer causing a fairly rapid warming of sun exposed slopes and all the storm snow to consolidate in general. There were many open, flowing creeks and barely covered rocks that still remain the majority of the hazard in the field today. There was evidence of wind drifting and on one small, unsupported roll below a ridge I was able to get a crack to travel downhill from my ski 3-4 ft.
