Quick report

I ventured out in hopes that the warm mist had not made it up to the higher elevations and north of McCall. Unfortunately this area was not spared from the moisture cloud on Saturday.😞 Skinning up through the trees at 7000’, the snow was still soft and did not freeze overnight. I noticed a wet loose avalanche on the SW aspect of diamond ridge consistent with observations in other locations. I also noticed plenty of cinnamon rolls on north aspects in the same elevation band indicating a temperature cause and not solar from Friday’s sunshine. A strong southern wind kept the snow frozen at 7500’ up to 8600’ where I topped out at. My first turn produced a popped ski in the breakable crust which also broke my spirits. Not one to be a “one and done” but I cried uncle and followed the skin track back to the sled. The breakable crust became more supportive around 8000’, then turned into sticky-icky mushy-wushy around 7500’. At least the groomed road was nice to ride the sled on 🤷‍♂️
