Quick report
Very low snow cover less than 50cm on all aspects below 5200’. We dug several pits generally finding a mixture of crusts and damp well sintered old snow. Some old, striated depth hoar was observed on NW and N facing aspects above 4500’ but was sintering well. All snow temperatures were >-2C regardless of depth with no sharp gradients between layers observed. Weather today was overcast and relatively warm. Fog moved in during the early afternoon down to 4000’ and the snow surface developed a rime crust. The ~6 inches of new snow were wet and dense (settled density of top 10cm was 18-25%). Hand shear pits were unremarkable without much of a cohesive slab.
