My car thermometer said 50 degrees on Carson Pass at 9:15am.
Snowpack
The biggest surprise of my tour on Carson Pass this morning was my car's thermometer reading 50° at 9:15am. I guess another surprise was when I stepped off my skis near a rock and sunk up to my hip in the wet snow, but after seeing the thermometer I should have expected to sink. In other locations, at least some shallow surface snow was still supportive. The amount of roller balls and wet loose around where I toured seemed to have decreased from my previous visit a few days ago. I did catch a partial view of the large cornice above Meiss Meadow that appeared to have more recent debris and broken chunks below it. I found decent corn descending fairly south terrain around 11am. I expect many areas turned to deep wet glop shortly after that.
