Incline Peak and points NW

We toured N and NW of Incline Peak today, assessing for persistent slab instability. Signs of instability have decreased since collapsing and cracking were reported in the general Mount Rose backcountry on 11/23. Snowpit tests indicate that the persistent slab problem is still present but becoming harder to trigger.

New snow amounts in the area ranged from about 3 inches at 8,400' and 5 inches at 9,500'. We did not observe any drifting snow and only very small areas of shallow cracking in previously wind loaded areas.

Faceted snow remains at the bottom of the snowpack, in some places it is still chains of depth hoar. The mid pack is showing strength gains through rounding. No collapses triggered today.
