We went for an after work tour at andesite, started our tour at 3pm and left the zone at 6:30 We dug a pit on a somewhat sheltered E aspect ~8000 and found a meter of fist hard snow on top of the previous surface crust. ECTP 2 and 5 20cm from snow surface. We collapsed a sizeable cornice on the summit with very little effort. Another large cornice failed naturally. Both failures triggered small avalanches which likely would have been larger if the slope below them was steep enough to slide
Avalanche
Observed shallow natural avalanches on east aspects late in the day
