Quick report

CT and ECT results both showed fracture at the interface between a melt-freeze crust (above) and rounding facets (below), but ECT with no propagation. The snowpack overall ranges from 0°C (ground) to -3°C, with a layer-cake of crusts, melt forms, and some facets. We would be higher to compare these results to other places in the general area at higher elevations and N-NE aspects. We did not notice cracking, collapsing, whumping. Later in our trip, we saw roller balls from snow falling off trees on S and SE aspects.

Warming throughout the day. The temperature measured at approximately 1100 was 29°F, and the truck was reading 35°F when we left at 1330. Winds were calm to light in sheltered areas and reaching moderate on exposed ridgelines. Snow was falling throughout our trip, ranging from S-1 to S2.
