We found between 30-60cm of storm snow overlying old hard surfaces (either wind pressed snow or sun crust, aspect dependent). We mostly rode on a south aspect which may have had some previous wind effect, but we found no signs of wind affected surface snow below treeline today. The sun was out until about noon, which turned the previously very low density surface snow moist on steep south facing slopes before it clouded over in the afternoon. We saw no avalanches or signs of cracking / whumpfing and the new snow seemed to be bonding well at lower elevations.
