Climbed and skied arrowhead experiencing a crust on the surface from the parking lot to the summit. It was breakable the whole way, with somewhat upside down soft snow underneath. That layer of snow on average at all elevations was about 8” with a distinctly softer layer at the bottom of that. This was the same height as our ski penetration on the skin track. Many hand shears showed that this did not propagate or have much energy or shear and slide but did break away cleanly on that softer layer. No signs of cracking or anything on the way up. The crust was manageable to ski, and seemed to be better in the trees. There was a distinct change at about 5000’ where the crust changed from what seemed like rain crust to crust from the fog that lingered on the mountain all day, and it was a bit thicker up higher.
