On an AIARE Level 2 course, a group through the Snow Lake Basin. We observed small localized wind slabs on the ridge SE of Snow Lake between approximately 4800 and 5000 and well as small cornices. We moved on to SW Face of Avalanche Mountain where we observed wet, heavy consolidated snow over a double crust approximately 5-10 cm below the surface.
