Quick report
Climbed the west aspect of Silver Peak from the Annette Lake trail, on Sunday morning and afternoon, with low cloud cover and occasional brief flurries. We mostly encountered a weak and dry layer of new snow between 4-12 inches in depth, sitting on top of an icy crust. It was easy to displace this snow as a layer via quick hand tests, but it did not seem to be cohesive enough to propagate substantially. The deepest pockets we encountered were above 5,000 feet and obviously wind-deposited. From the summit, the east face of Silver looks like it has quite a bit more consolidated snow than the west, but we did not explore in that direction.
