Quick report

We spent sun-mon climbing and skiing Mount hinman; we used the north bushwhack/hinman glacier route on the way up and summer route / necklaces valley on the way down. We found dynamic snow conditions dependent on aspect and elevation. On the approach it was low coverage (on steep N), started skinning at ~4300’ In the alpine on north’s there was widespread wind affect, with 1-1.5’ thick slabs over mid Feb crust (hand pits showed they were stubborn but possible to trigger) On all other aspects (w-s-e) there was thick crusts mon after warming day before and strong refreeze overnight. We saw some loose wet slides on these aspects, most likely from sat, up to D2-2.5 On sheltered north’s in middle elevations there was still dry stable powder
