Quick report
Skinned up from Paradise parking lot up to 9k on the Muir snowfield before turning around at 1:30 pm. Calm and full sun, but surprisingly did not turn the snow into a heavy mess or break down the crust that existed in wind-exposed areas. Above 8500 was isolated powder pockets but mostly wind crust and mild sastrugi. From 8500 to the top of pan face was high quality powder just below boot top that rode very well, though the occasional wind effect was present. Coverage became a bit shaky below 7000, but overall was better than expected. Lots of debris on solar aspects in the Edith Creek zone, saw one avalanche plume come off the upper mountain around 11 am and a debris pile from the skiers right side next to pan face, but hand pits were not reactive during the day and snow did not heat up very much even by the late afternoon.
