Quick report

Toured up around Nascar Hill at Lolo Pass for Christmas Eve. Started touring around 9:45am (air temp 8F) and ended back at the car around 2:30pm (air temp 39F). Clear skies, calm and no new precipitation since the small storm that rolled through on 12/23. I dug a pit on a WSW aspect at 6,286ft and found overall poor structure in the current snowpack; mostly facets separated by three distinct crust layers. 2-2.5" fell during yesterday's storm; some surface hoar development on all aspects during the night. Main hazard today remained thin conditions: downed trees, stumps and rocks still near the surface.
