Quick report

Blustery walk up to pt 6 from the bowl Friday afternoon. Westerly winds were 30 mph minimum. Snowing 1/2" an hour or better. Every bit of new snow and some of the old was on the move east. Our pit was top of jenny in a relative calm locale just above the first trees, south aspect 7800'. Total depth snow 162 cm. Snowpack looked considerably better bonded than a shallower southeast facing pit I dug on Burgundy last weekend. Bottom of the snowpack at the ground looked decent and cohesive. The December crust 93 cm below the surface was relatively cohesive too. ECT test: ECTN3 10 cm below surface, newest snow. ECTN22 30 cm, I pried hard on the column below 30 cm and it held together nicely to the ground. Skiing quality was ok, some very light sporadic crusts from sun this week and the south side of the trees had dumped their snow with the new snow keeping it creamy.
