Quick report
The Southern Wallowas have received over 2 inches of water equivalent precip over the last 24 hours, which has amounted to rain up to 6,000 ft and 1.5-2 ft of wet snow near treeline with moderate SW wind overnight. This has resulted in numerous natural avalanches, including D1 wet slab avalanches below tree line on a NW aspect, and D1-D2 wind slab releases near treeline and in the alpine on easterly aspects, especially near ridge tops. Over the weekend we had 2.2 inches of water equivalent and about 18 inches of new snow. 4.20 in water total over the last week, and receiving the next pulse of moisture now at a colder temperature, as snow is observed falling at valley floor ~3,500 ft elevation.
Avalanche
Natural D2 windslab avalanche observed on East aspect at 7,200 ft; crown propagated 300 ft across slope. Natural D1 wet slab observed on NW aspect at 5,300 ft
