Quick Observation
The 20-30cm of recent storm snow in the Hilda area provided remarkably good skiing in the alpine. Getting up to the alpine was hard work in a weak and unconsolidated below treeline snowpack. There was minimal indication of an unstable snowpack, just one whumph that ran out less than 5m on Destiny Ridge.
Avalanche Information
A small point release climber right of Destiny Ridge
Weather
Wind was limited to alpine ridges where it was light.
Snowpack
Above treeline, great powder skiing. 30cm sits above a stiff crust beneath which the snowpack feels faceted and unconsolidated. In the valley bottom to treeline the snow depth is between 70cm-120cm. Caution needed at all elevations due to rocks and stumps.
