Quick Observation
Camped out up Mosquito creek and skied mellow slopes south of Mosquito peak and around Molar meadows. We found good riding with 15-20cm of new snow on top of the mostly supportive 1-2cm March 28th crust. Freshly waxed skins allowed for good trail breaking without glopping despite warm temperatures and greenhouse effect from low lying cloud making surface snow moist in the alpine. We observed 3x sz 2 storm slab avalanches release on Southwesterly alpine slopes on the Fang around midday on Saturday, air temp at the time was +1° with thin cloud cover, suspect solar/ warmth triggered. Saw lots of evidence of the recent avalanche cycle up to sz 3 on large alpine slopes off of Noseeum, Oxo, Ramp and Quartzite peak. Attached photos of slides, but good luck finding them with the flat lighting. We dug a quick test pit at MIN pin location, found the upper half of the snowpack to be a right side up slab on top of weak facets and depth hoar in the bottom 70cm. CTM RP and ECTN results on the Mar 28 crust. See picture
