Skiied Crowfoot Couloir today. Temps around -5 with heavy clouds and light flurries throughout the day. Solid boot packing up the couloir with periodic spin drift coming off all walls. We experienced one significant sluff from a suspected cornice failure over the top of the couloir that got our tail between our legs! Overall skiied well with the crust barely noticeable. The fan below also skiied well despite the crust being more pronounced.
Low wind, warm temperature, poor visibility and light snow throughout the day.
Dug a pit on a NE aspect slope around Crowfoot Couloir. 10cm of light new snow sat on top. Two significant layers in the snowpack, one around 27cm deep where we found a SP failure at CT 12. Another layer was present 48cm down with facets above and below. Hard, uneven result on this layer at CT 21. Slope angle roughly 25 degrees at ~2200m. Also observed some exposed wind loaded slopes from North and Westerly winds. Especially in gullies and on convex features.
