Snow conditions were: Wind affected, Powder. Weather conditions were: Cold, Sunny. We rode: Alpine slopes, Mellow slopes, Steep slopes, Sunny slopes, Open trees. We avoided: Convex slopes. Riding quality was good.

Avalache Conditions: Slab avalanches today or yesterday.


Initial slab triggered by 1st rider, 2nd and 3rd rider entering the area triggered some additional hangfire. 1st rider took a short ride and 2nd rider was pushed around a bit by hang fire, no injuries or lost gear.


Sz1.5 Sa failed 20-40cm down on surface hoar to 8mm, sitting on a faceted bed surface 10-15 cm above Feb 1st crust. NE asp at 2000m in a lightly loaded sheltered treeline glade. Cautioning this touchy surface hoar layer in noticeably sheltered areas unaffected by previous and recent winds.
