Hooray, the wind has shifted and are bringing milder temperatures and flurries. There has been 7 new centimeters overnight, adding to 25-40 cm from last week in sheltered areas, and it is still snowing. We found great sledding in fantail flats and powder skiing in protected trees on a north aspect. On our ski tour up, we did feel significant whumpfing in the lower trees. We dug a snow pit at 1200 m on a N aspect and found a new layer of concern, Feb 14 FC/MFcr. This layer is buried down 50 cm and stubborn in tests results. We avoided convexities and wind affected areas, sticking to supported terrain in the trees.
