Gettin After It In the Flathead

We had a great day skiing out in the Flathead, especially considering it hasn’t snowed in nearly two weeks. Visibility was great and temperatures were mild at treeline due to a temperature inversion. Prolonged cold temperatures have faceted out the upper snowpack on north aspects which made for soft, smooth turns. We observed widespread surface hoar but it was generally small and “needle” like.
