80km of travel on our AST2 sled course- saw lots of Alpine Terrain - Cornice fall contributed to numerous size 1.5 avalanches. By afternoon, with strong winds, the soft slab was becoming increasingly more dense and propagations were getting larger. Despite being able to get small pocket slabs to release we observed no large avalanches.
Snow conditions were: Deep powder, Wind affected. Weather conditions were: Cold, Stormy, Windy. We rode: Alpine slopes, Dense trees, Mellow slopes, Open trees, Steep slopes. We avoided: Convex slopes. Riding quality was good.
Avalache Conditions: Slab avalanches today or yesterday. 30cm + of new snow, or significant drifitng, or rain in the last 48 hours. Whumpfing or drum-like sounds or shooting cracks.
