Treeline leeward terrain is holding upwards of 50cm of fresh storm snow that is soft slab in nature. Open Alpine terrain leeward terrain held hard slab characteristics and cracking was much more prominent in these open areas. CTE1 down 30 on HST interface from earlier in the week CTM 11 down 50cm on Surface hoar / new storm snow interface from Monday Feb 15
Snow conditions were: Deep powder, Powder. Weather conditions were: Cold, Stormy, Windy. We rode: Dense trees, Mellow slopes, Open trees, Steep slopes. We avoided: Convex slopes. Riding quality was good.
Avalache Conditions: Slab avalanches today or yesterday. 30cm + of new snow, or significant drifitng, or rain in the last 48 hours. Whumpfing or drum-like sounds or shooting cracks.
