We noticed some drifting in the afternoon in exposed upper elevation terrain

The new snow from earlier in the week contained dust. This was most apparent at lower elevations where the new snow is shallow. In some areas the shallow new snow was a tan color, containing dust whipped up by strong winds over lower elevation terrain and deposited on our nice snowpack. Unfortunately many slopes were already tracked up by the time we got up there.

Cracking in a dusty snow drift on a mid elevation creek crossing.

Some neat high clouds in the hills this afternoon

We found drifts not be sensitive to human triggering today, but we did not test drifts on very steep slopes (>40 degrees) and avoided the large cornices along the Chicken Hill Ridge

Nice shallow powder and dust-on-crust conditions. Best on lower angled slopes.
