Observation: Porter Fork

We were heading from the main trail towards a low point in the ridge, planning to go to the next drainage over. We felt several wumphs crossing a low angle meadow, then saw two pretty large cracks in the trees. The cracks were not brand new, they had been filled in with a few inches of snow, probably from yesterday or last night. We went back to the main trail. The layer that cracked was a little over a foot deep (eyeballing it) and at 8200ft.
