On the morning of February 25, 2000 the Snowbasin Patrol used 14# of explosives in Strawberry Bowl and made an avalanche that was 5' deep x 400' wide x 400' vertical. Later that day a skier triggered some of hangfire (unsure of location based on explosive placement or ski area boundary) which created an avalanche large enough to catch six people and fully bury two. They were able to self-rescue.
