Quick report
- Small loose on steep road cuts and roller balls on 20mile rd around 5000' - Calm to Light ridge-top winds above 6000', no snow transport - 5500- 6500 ft: Consistent 8 - 10 inches (20-25cm) new snow on top of recent, 1/27, rain crust. Crust is 2 inch (5cm) thick and 1 finger+ hard. Fairly good snow riding quality on top of recent crust. 6400' S aspect snow height ave. 3.5 ft (110cm) Below 5500' top new snow wetter and heavier on top of partially frozen crust, with wet snow underneath. - New snow was resistant to hand shears and ski cuts on small roller overs, appears bonding well to 1/27 crust. little to no obvious signs of instability within storm snow - Slight Surprises: 1/27 rain crust not as hard as expected, still mainly refrozen and bridging though in mid and upper elevations. Heavier denser top 8" snow, and under 1/27 crust is wet/moist snow up to 6000'.
