WINDY with lots of snow transport. S2 snowfall started around 10 am and continued till around 1 pm. Skies slowly broke up with continued lighter snow showers.
Snowpack
We found few concerns in the upper snowpack. Subtle softer layers and thin crust are sandwiched between harder layers on most slopes. However, a thick enough slab currently lacks to pose much hazard. Minor faceting is happening in upper layers, but the steady temperature profile over the last few days has limited advanced faceting. Places where today's snowfall and wind forms drifts around 8 inches thick are the most problematic slopes. Sunny slopes have a half to one-inch thick sun crust below the new snow. We easily broke through the crust with both skis and boots and softer snow sits below. Deeper in the snowpack, persistent weak layers from earlier in the season seem put to rest - at least for now. The midpack slab is very consolidated and it's difficult to discern weaker interfaces when probing in the top two to three feet. You will likely need to find a shallow spot near rocks, steep rolls, or in more extreme terrain to provoke a deeper failure.
