Clear skys, warm in the sun but still cold temps in the shade
Snowpack
Snow surface is mostly dry low density powder from earlier in the week. 3 variable snow surfaces: Sun crust (0.5” thick), Surface hoar up to 6mm mainly on shaded aspects but not all, and dry low density swow with no sun crust and no surface hoar.
Dug two pits: NW and S aspects, both near 6000'. Snowpack heights 220 cm and 150 cm respectively. Both pits: resistant, Q2 CT’s and ECTN results in last weeks storm snow of the upper snowpack - top 70cm . Thin melt freeze layers (2 of them), within this storm snow. Hard Thick rain crust (10cm or 4inch thick, from Feb. 3rd) was down 110cm and 80cm respectively.
