Quick report
Spectacular sunny, calm day for an easy tour on roads or meadows. There is essentially zero base, so skiing slopes is presently complicated by lots of vegetation (manzanita, logs) that are still emergent or _just_ barely buried. Catching a tip in that junk is currently the greatest hazard out there. In heavier forest, the snow cover is extremely thin due to canopy interception. No signs of instability. Got a very good look at the west bowl of Jack through the binoculars and nothing was observed over there as well.

Dead calm bluebird day.
Snowpack
Bottom line? 50cm of storm snow. This was either sitting on the ground (on solar aspects that were dry prior to this week's storm cycle), or sitting on 10-20cm of melt-freeze junk (on northerly aspects that were still retaining a bit of snow prior to this storm). Storm snow was right-side-up, transitioning from fist to 4-finger. A few CTs turned up no instability at the interface with the leftover melt-freeze). Great to see some beautiful new snow, but we are well behind where we need to be, and touring at this elevation band will be a bit tricky until more of the undergrowth gets buried.
