Toured to Taylor pass, staying on the skin track that ran midvalley rather than the long sidehill route. Dug a pit at about 3,500 feet on Sunburst, below the ridge near Taylor pass. CTN. Identified two weak layers with shovel shears, but it took a lot of force. Weak layers were thin, snowpack appeared to be strong and consolidated. No signs of instability.
