Quick report
Arriving at Hermit Lake, sun was shining with temperatures above freezing. Very small point releases were noted in the Headwall area from the deck. On the walk up to the bowl, cloud cover increased but temperatures remained warm, 34 degrees in the shade. In protected areas on the TRT, a sun-crust had formed approximately 1 cm thick. In the ravine the new snow from overnight did not seem very wind affected. There were many small natural avalanches (D 0.5-D1), some soft slabs and some loose point releases. Winds had shifted west and gusts were increasing during my limited time in the field.
Last nights 4 inches of new snow had minimal wind effect. Avalanche activity was likely from the warm temperatures and solar gain for several hours after the snow stopped falling.Weather

Small avalanches in Headwall/Lip, Sluice, Empress, Dutchess and the start zones of R-Cubed and Lobster Claw. These were small slabs and point releases that likely occured from warming temps and solar on the new snow.
