Toured in the Essex area today with stable conditions and bouts of sunshine. •The recent rime crust existed from 5000'-7600' (WNW). Friable and thin, hardly noticeable on the descent and capped with 1" of recent snow. •Multiple ~D2.5 persistent slab avalanches were observed in the alpine terrain off the Flathead crest. These slides appeared to start as loose-dry and eventually step down to deeper layers. (see photos) •Once again, winds were calm at all elevation bands. Recent Easterly winds (from the recent come-and-go arctic) had created benign, thin windslabs on leeward terrain at mid elevations. No cracking was observed. •South aspects (up to 6500') produced D1-1.5 point release - wet loose around noon, but cloud cover quickly ended further activity
