Moving in terrain 0830-1330 isolated collapsing NE 9040 ft moderate winds with intermittent stronger gusts, generally W with some variable winds swirled in, moderate snow transport on Powdercorn Ridge, OVC S-1, riming after 1300 (only observed at low elevation) For surface snow, observed drifted snow and wind textured surfaces, rime crust observed forming at lower elevations, wind skin to 5 cm wind crust, slightly upside down below 8600 ft, no shooting cracks, an isolated pocket that was actively loading with more structure had moderate hand shear results, this was just above 9000 ft and N facing- most trees scoured of snow outside of sheltered SE in mid elevation. Did not encounter wind slabs with much reactivity, but was below 9000 ft so can really only speak to mid-elevation, where unstable reactive snow seemed to be more isolated. digging deeper into the snow, 206 cm height of snow on a NE aspect 9040 ft 27 degree slope along the Powdercorn Ridge, found the Christmas Crust 75cm down and decomposing, PST38/100 End and ECTP24 on this layer on rounding facets
