Quick report
- Cracking
- isolated
Isolated wind slab cracking and releasing about 12” deep on an E aspect just below a large exposed ridgeline @ 8,700’. They moved on a few CMs on facets above another hard layer from a snowmobile just going straight up them. We also dig a pit on a N aspect around 8,700’ in a sheltered area and found a well developed and well preserved layer of surface hoar just below the recent new snow. Below that was pretty weak F-4F facets that previously made up the surface snow over the last couple weeks. Then it was pretty hard snow down to the stout crust party in the middle and lower snowpack. We didn’t get any notable results in a Compression Test or Extended Column Test.
