Quick report
Toured up Waterfalls canyon in search of soft snow and good views. Good views were plentiful, but soft snow was scarce. One interesting note - in the lower reaches of the canyon below 8,000' in wind sheltered areas, faceted powder did exist and contained a very well preserved surface hoar layer. The surface hoar was widespread and covered by 1-2" of new snow that fell earlier this week. This could be a layer to watch as more snow comes in, but luckily it only exists in wind sheltered areas.
