Quick report
Went up to clear the interval board on Angle: 21 Inches (53 cm) and 4.2" if SWE. Snow was very dense from warm temps and high wind. It's possible that the SWE measurement is higher than what actually fell since 1/31 however this SWE measurement includes 3" of snow that was on the board prior to the 1/31 storm.
Dug on a west aspect at 9400'
ECTP15 down 16" (41cm) on the 1/31 interface. The overlying slab goes from fist density to one finger minus in those 16". The slab is sitting on a 20cm layer of fist ner-surface facets from the cold and dry weather at the end of January.
The wind has done a number on Tog. Exposed windward slopes are stripped along ridges and raised tracks and sastrugi exists at middle elevations. I saw no sign of any large avalanches driving up to the summit and back. The storm this week dropped a significant load on Tog (roughly 4" of water) and to not see any avalanches from the road could mean a couple things... It could be a good sign that the snowpack has handled the load well and adjusted or it could mean that all the wind has blown in any sign of large avalanches that were visible from the road. Either way, the 1/31 interface is still concerning. There is already a stout slab lying on top from warm temps, high moisture content during the storm, and lots of wind. This means that you probably won't see signs of instability like cracking and collapsing until its too late and you trigger a hard slab avalanche. Keep this in mind as you are riding - it might take a large trigger like a snowmobile or hitting that thin spot to collapse the weak layer. Remain conservative as we wait to see what happens.
