- Recent Avalanches, Heavy Snowfall, Wind Loading, Cracking, Collapsing, Poor Snowpack Structure
Traveled along the PC ridgeline today. Snow density increased and became inverted around 9k. Observed wind transport onto NE facing slopes. Wind seemed to get in lower down in the terrain than one might expect. Once on the ridge observed shooting cracks and a small test slope at 9600' seemingly went natural some point earlier in the day. Observed cornice growth and failure and then got a booming collapse on the lee side of the ridge. Ski quality diminished this afternoon as winds thickened much of our upper elevation new snow.
