South fork big pine

Quick report

Ski backpacked up south fork big pine to Norman glacier Thursday-Friday. notes/observations from Thursday 11/27: -coverage is still very thin. -snow was soft and powdery below tree line (which meant you hit all the hidden things) -above 11k started to fill in enough to ski without hitting rocks -snow was wind affected punch crust but stable on 11/27 above 11k -around 12k noticed a ~6 inch layer of graupel underneath the firmer wind board, seemed unreactive. -was surprisingly not that cold overnight. Maybe low of 20/25? Notes from Friday 11/28: -winds picked up substantially through the night. -saw snow transport on most ridge lines -some melt/freeze on sun exposed slopes -coverage still very thin
