Quick report
Climbed to 9700' on Chicken Wing and skied a few laps this morning/early afternoon. Clear skies, cool air temps, warm sun, light winds only near the summit. Protected N slope near the summit ridge at 9709', hs=125. Felt multiple layers with the probe but didn't dig. No collapsing or cracking or other signs of instability. There was still some snow in the trees at most elevations on N aspects. E aspects are starting to cook slightly. Good powder on N and most of E slopes above 8500', but there are still lots of barely submerged obstacles. We also tried to ski out of Convict but the moraine was a mess - mostly bushes without enough snow to skin over - so we didn't attempt to climb onto Tobacco Flats - that area needs another few feet of base.
