Quick report
Dug a pit on an ESE facing slope at about 8800 feet with a slope angle of 15 degrees. I observed a faceted layer about 5cm thick buried 60cm in the snowpack. I also observed a hard icy 20cm thick layer underneath the faceted layer that I was unable to penetrate with my fingers. Total snowpack depth where I dug was 85cm. I was unable to collapse the faceted week layer with a compression test.
