Bowl northeast of government peak

Party of two toured towards government peak from Skeetawk planning to ski the lower angle south facing aspects of the bowl. Several recent natural avalanches were noticed on the steep upper slopes below government peak. As we came to a section of steeper slope that we would have to cross we decided to go one at a time, but just a few strides onto the steep section the snow quality changed drastically and was obviously wind loaded. Before having a chance to stop and assess the new snow quality I heard a large whoomph and a second later a slab ripped loose 20 ft below me. Where we triggered the slab was the first slope of that aspect we had encountered that day so maybe all slopes of that aspect were similarly loaded. Additionally, it was the highest elevation we reached (3300 ft) and everything lower down seemed quite stable.
