Quick report

Snow at the summit trailhead had about 2 inches of compacted, wind affected snow with varying depths of snow underneath. Snow sounded hallow in several locations so we spread out on the uptrack. The lead skier heard a womp and saw the crack that released about 20 feet in front of him. Crack was roughly 30’ wide, 1.5’ deep, and released over rocks. No cracking or collapsing was seen/heard before the release. There was evidence that the next valley over had slid in previous days on a similar aspect.
